3. Day of the Dead: Self Help Graphics
Many celebrations are being held around the city for "Dia de los Muertos," but the Self Help Graphics event is being called the "mother of all festivals" for this holiday. It is always interesting to experience and learn about different cultures.

2. Downtown On Ice
Try outdoor ice skating a la Rockefeller Center: the public ice rink fills a good part of Pershing Square across from the Biltmore Hotel. There is also a smaller version available in downtown Santa Monica on the corner of Arizona and 4th.

1. The Elizabeth Taylor Collection
A four-day exhibit in West Hollywood featuring the best of Taylor's gems, threads, and movie memorabilia. The baubles will be showcased at the MOCA Pacific Design Center for an extremely limited time (from October 13 to 16).
